ICANN Creating a Monopoly in Domain Names

When the Internet was very young, all you had to do to get a domain name was call a man named Jon Postel, and ask for it. Things have changed greatly with the popularity of the Internet. Now the competition for a good, short, generic domain name is fierce. If you want a domain name in the popular .com namespace, you have to settle for a long, sometimes confusing, domain name.ICANN has been using a process of “rounds” to introduce new tlds. When they do create these new tlds, they are generic in nature, like .info or .biz. This creates trademark conflicts. Many companies hold the same word as a trademark, such as Apple Records and Apple Computers. Both are legal trademarks. Both have the legal right to use the word apple to sell their respective products and services. So which one has the legal rights to apple.com or apple.biz? What if I start a company tomorrow called Apple Printing Services and get a trademark on the word apple to sell printing services? Do I not then have equal rights to use apple.com or apple.net as my domain name?If ICANN would open the TLD market, so that any company with the technical expertise and the financial capability, could start a new TLD, we would have more option like apple.computer, apple.music, apple.printer. TLDs like .lyr, .atty, .cpa, would crop up. This would help eliminate trademark conflicts.First come, first serve, in the demand for domain names was the method used and seemed fair when namespace was less congested. Now, if we are going to insure that future generations of people, who are not even on the Internet yet, or who have not even started their business yet, will have the opportunity to get domain names they want, we must create more tlds. ICANN claims there is no demand for new TLDS.I disagree. Demand is far from being met. It is not fair business practice to have few TLDs where a few companiespeople get short one word domain names while the rest must settle for two and in most cases three word domain names. By limiting space with few TLDs, ICANN makes the decision that businesses that were in existence at a certain point in time shall have an advantage over any business created at a later time.

As a city grows, more streets get paved and more buildings get built allowing for more businesses to get good locations, more corner lots if you will. As name space expands ICANN wants businesses to continue to build upward and not outward. They leave new businesses the equivalent of existing on the third and fourth levels Vs having a ground-floor storefront.

Cities grow outward to allow for more development. TLD space needs to grow outward to meet the same demand. Cities that stifle development and that are not business-friendly find their economy in ruin before too long. Cities that do their best to offer more development opportunities to businesses i.e. corner lots, breaks in certain costs, etc., prosper.

It would be uncommon for a city to tell a new business, “nope can build on that lot, you have to build onto existing buildings above your competitors, so that they have the ground floor and your customers must walk past your competitors to get to where you are.” That is the analogy. If you own design.com already, I must get something like webdesign.com (a 2nd floor location), the next business must get something like websitedesign.com, (3rd floor), the next few businesses can share the 4th floor with greatwebsitedesign.com, websitedesignplanet.com, etc. Others will get the 5th floor with even longer names as new businesses come to the web.

You might say well they only need their business name for their website and that should be easy to get. I would answer that many businesses have the same name and in addition to that, generic keywords in domain names are an advantage to only having your business name as a domain name. People are not searching the web for you, but they do search for what service or product you sell.

ICANN is currently forcing an unfair disadvantage to new business owners and to people new to the web by not allowing them to get good, short domain names for their personal or business use. Not allowing new tlds to be created is an unfair business practice and a restraint to free trade. It is also anti-free enterprise because they are telling me I cannot go into the domain name selling business and that only a few businesses they have selected can do so. They may also be in violation of laws written to avoid monopolies.

Twitter

Internet relationships are very different from actual personal relationships. It is based primarily on like, know, and trust. Many people are reaching out to others through social network websites and one of these sites is Twitter. If you don’t like a person, then you can’t trust him or her. If you become a subscriber of Twitter, you can meet millions of people and perhaps you can find some individuals that you might like.In this social network site, you can do microblogging; so why micro? Well, it’s because you can only compose a message that is 140 characters in length. It’s too short but it tells a lot of what you’re doing. You see, if you’re using Twitter, you will be asked to answer the question – “what are you doing?” and the answer should be written in 140 characters.Whenever you answer that question or when you make updates, the tweets are sent to all your friends to let them know what you’re doing. The aim of the developer of Twitter is to know all the activities of his friends and it is exactly what you can get from the site. For instance, you’re going out to get some groceries. You can update your tweets and tell your friends that you’re out getting some groceries. Now, some of your friends may respond to your tweets but some will not. That’s the good thing with Twitter. The receiver of the updates or tweets is not forced to respond immediately. In fact, they can ignore the update if they want to. It’s up to you to adjust the settings on your profile page. You can choose only a few of your friends to receive the message or tweets. You can also choose when and where you will receive the tweets. For example, you can receive the tweets on your mobile phone so that wherever you are, you will know what your friends are doing; and you can even reply via your mobile phone if you like. Many new users of Twitter are often confused when they receive tweets. You see, some tweets are addressed to only one person and yet everyone on the ‘friends list’ receives it. It’s natural to get confused at first but as you use the site more often, you will appreciate it more. Did you know that Twitter is just as popular as MySpace and Facebook? It has about six million users from different countries. You can meet a lot of new friends there or you can also locate lost relatives and classmates. Why don’t you sign up now and stay connected 24/7? You don’t need to access your Twitter account every time you want to update the messages on your profile page. The site provides excellent tools that allow you to make changes to your profile even without actually accessing the website. Make use of such tools and have fun. If you’re new to Twitter, try to learn everything you can about the social network website. Visit their official site and know how they started. Twitter has been in business for almost three years now and their subscribers are still increasing. Because of its simplicity, many people prefer Twitter as compared to other social sites.Experience Twitter now and see how many friends you can find. If you have a business, you can also promote it on the site.   For help on any Computer Repair related issues contact us immediately, we can help.

What Computer Printer Characteristics Should Be Considered

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about it, here's your opportunity.A typical computer should have a printer on hand. There are all sorts of computer printer characteristics to look into first. The type of printer that is used is one of the characteristics to consider. This includes the printing quality and the speed of the printing. Multiple services, including scanning and faxing, can take place from a printer too. Here is a look into these computer printer characteristics. The type of the printer is one of the computer printer characteristics to follow. The dot matrix printer is still used in some places. This is where pixels are printed to form a single image. However, more advanced technologies are being used. For instance, the toner based printer uses static electricity to move the toner into the paper for printing and then heat is applied to keep it on the paper. The inkjet printer is the most common printer on the market today. This is where small bits of ink are printed onto a piece of paper. Each bit of ink will be attached via a small electric charge.Laser printers are becoming popular too. These can work with toner in that the LEDs in the printer can get the toner to stick to the paper. Inkless printers are currently in development as well. Dye crystals are used to be heated into the area between the two layers of the paper. This is a process in development though, as the print has been known to fade quickly in trial tests. Is everything making sense so far? If not, I'm sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place. The first of the computer printer characteristics to consider is that of the quality of the printing. The quality that a printer will be capable of handling will be measured by its dpi, or dots per inch. The dpi readout will be based on the ability of the printer to be able to print high quality images. For instance, a typical printer on the market will have a dpi readout of 600x600. This means that there will be 600 dots per inch on both the vertical and horizontal parts of the page. 4800x1200 is becoming a standard on some of the higher end printers these days, and some will even go as high as 9600x2400 in quality. The speed of the printer is another of the computer printer characteristics that is important. The number of pages per minute that it will be able to print measures the speed. This speed will be different based on whether or not black and white pages or color pages are going to be printed. Some printers can handle up to thirty black and white pages in a minute and eight color pages in a minute, for instance. The multiple features on a printer are the last of the computer printer characteristics to look into. Some printers are able to handle scanning or fax technologies. Some will also be able to copy pages right from the printer without a connection to anything. CD and DVD label printing is also featured on some of these newer printers. Those are the computer printer characteristics to think about when buying a new printer. The type of printer, its quality output and the speed of the printer are all important. Additional services may be considered too. By using these considerations, it will be easier to find a printer that is right for one’s specific needs.Knowing enough about computers to make solid, informed choices cuts down on the fear factor. If you apply what you've just learned about computers, you should have nothing to worry about.   For help on any Computer Repair related issues contact us immediately, we can help.

External Hard Drive Recovery

You can store your computer data in several different ways.  Data can be stored on removable disks, hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and other types of media.  Even though there are several ways that you can store your data, at some point in time the electronic or mechanical device is bound to break down, resulting in a loss of data.  Even though the device may work good for years, it can always break down when you least expect it, with no way to avoid it.Hard drives are the most common way to store data, although they are mechanical devices and can break down or crash at any time.  When they crash, you’ll normally lose all of your data, which can put you in quite a bind.  To be on the safe side and keep yourself protected, you should always have a backup plan, such as an external hard drive. An external hard drive is very handy to have around.  You can store any type of file on it, including music and pictures.  Most people use them for videos, as they can store a lot of videos.  You can get them in many different sizes, going as high as 500 GB.  If you have a lot of video on your computer that is taking up a lot of much needed space, you can easily transfer it to an external hard drive and free up some of your space. On the data recovery side of things, external hard drives are a great solution.  You can back up your entire hard drive on them, even a mirror image.  Most external drives are FireWire or USB compatible and will work with most computers.  To use an external drive all you need to do is connect it to your computer.  Then, using the software that came with the device, you can begin to transfer your data and files. If you have a big hard drive, you’ll want to get a bigger external hard drive.  If you are transferring your entire internal hard drive to the external drive, it may take you a few minutes.  You can also add files and such along the way as well, if you get newer files to add.  Backing up your entire hard drive to an external drive is a very smart idea, especially if your area gets a lot of electrical storms.Once you have backed up all of your data to an external hard drive, you can rest assured that your information will be there when you need it.  External drives don’t crash, for the simple fact that they aren’t in use until you need them.  They will last you many years as well, which makes them great for pictures and other precious files.  If you own a business, you may find them to the best way to store your business documents and other files that relate to your company. All in all, external hard drives are the perfect way to create a back up of your data.  Once you have your data backed up, you’ll be ready for anything that happens to your internal hard drive.  In the event of a crash, you can use your external hard drive and transfer the data back to your hard drive, and be back up and running in no time at all.  External hard drives take all of the guess work out of the data recovery process - and may also save you the trouble of having to send your hard drive off to be repaired.   For help on any Computer Repair related issues contact us immediately, we can help.

Introduction to Programming

Are you looking for some inside information on computers? Here's an up-to-date report from computers experts who should know.Introduction to Programming
Controlling Your Computer with a Programming Language

In a previous article, we introduced automating some tasks with MS-DOS batch files. In this article, we're going to introduce programming and describe how it can be used to control the way your computer works. Normally, computer novices aren't interested in controlling the computer. New computer users are typically interested in learning more about how the thing works. However they may be surprised to learn that programming increases computer knowledge as a whole and it can help to diminish the fear associated with using a new computer.
Programming a computer is creating a sequence of instructions that enable the computer to do something.1 The people who program computers (called programmers) use a programming language to communicate with a computer. You might have heard of some of these languages in the past such as Visual Basic, C++, or Fortran. There are hundreds of other programming language and neither one is better than the other. Most of them are capable of performing the same tasks and achieving the same goals. A programmer chooses one language by a simple preference.
Each of these languages differ by the way they communicate with a computer however, and the commands that they follow are very specific. Not a single command of one language can be interchanged with the commands or language of another. But all of them can be used to control a computer.
Now it would be impossible to teach you how to program any language in a single article. But we can still introduce you to some of programming's most basic concepts - starting with the commands we talked about earlier. Commands are the instructions that a computer follows to perform an action. 2 To make them work inside of a program, programmers assign commands to objects like buttons for example.
The commands in a program are pretty useless unless they have some data to act on so programmers either give the programs some data to work with (list of names or numbers for example) or they make the program generate it's own data. Sometimes, the data comes from an outside source like the Internet or the computer that the program runs on. The data that a program receives is called input and data that the program generates is called output.
How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.
Other times, the data is unknown. If the program were working with a simple algebra equation like, "x + 5 = y," the variables "x" and "y" would be unknown pieces of data. Or if a program were to calculate a date "x" days from now, the variable "x" would be an unknown piece of data until we tell the program what "x" is. In programming, it's sometimes required to work with unknown pieces of data.
That's when conditions come in handy. Conditions allow a program to perform an action based on the outcome of a previous command.3 Using this type of instruction, we could instruct a program to do one thing if the "x" variable in our latter example turned out to be 7 days, and then do different thing if the variable turned out to be 3 days.
Commands, data, variables, and conditions help build the most simple programs and there are certainly many more components of any programming language. But when they're typed into a programming language and compiled to create a an executable file (a file ending with the .exe extension), they turn into a software application.
As we mentioned earlier, you can use a programming language to control your computer. By using simple commands, you can program your computer to perform mathematical tasks, fill out web forms, compose an email message and send it off, or any number of other things. If you're interested, you may find Visual Basic is one of the most easiest programming languages to learn. Visual Basic is an object-oriented programming language and it automatically codes much of a program the minute a programmer drags a button onto a screen.

If you've picked some pointers about computers that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it.

Home Computer Training

Would you like to find out what those-in-the-know have to say about computer training? The information in the article below comes straight from well-informed experts with special knowledge about computer training.Welcome home!  You're so excited to have your new computer system up and running.  It is pretty exciting, isn't it?  So what's next?  For some of you, you're off to the races, ready to go to the ends of the Internet.  For others, you may be staring at your new system like a calf staring at a new gate.  This is why most home users of personal computers can benefit from home computer training.  So what are some of the things a home computer user should get trained on?  Let's take a look at a short list of things you need to know to be efficient on your home computer and keep it running in tip-top shape.Home computer training should always include how to do back-ups.  It goes without saying that if something is important, you should have two copies of it.  It's nice to have a hard copy (print-out) of a document or file, but it's also nice to have a back-up of the actual computer file.  Just imagine what happens when the spreadsheet you've been using to balance your accounts suddenly get corrupted.  If you don't have a electronic copy of the file, then you will be stuck with re-entering all of the information by hand.  With home computer training you can get the skills to know how to best back up your files, which files to back up, and what utilities will best meet your needs. The best time to learn about computer training is before you're in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable computer training experience while it's still free.Another area that should be covered through home computer training is that of file system maintenance.  At this point, we've already covered back-ups.  In this area, let's look at two areas that often get overlooked until the system slows down so much it is basically at a stand still.  One is disk cleanup and the other is file fragmentation.  Home computer training will help the new computer user learn how to recognize when a hard drive is becoming cluttered, and what to do about it.  Often, third party software creates temporary files while you are using it, and then conveniently neglects to delete these files when you are done.  In addition, trash can collect in your recycle bin as well.  Combine these with temporary internet files and cookies and you can be bogged down pretty quickly.  Home computer training will also help you understand what causes a file to get fragmented into dozens of pieces on your hard drive.  While this doesn't destroy the file, it sure does slow down the computer's access time to it, which increases your wait time while using that software or opening that particular project.A final area that is often overlooked by the new computer user is that of Internet security and setting up of the firewall.  A good home computer training class will cover how to set up your firewall, and how to optimize your Internet browser to ensure a good experience while online. All of these areas are important when operating a computer in this modern Internet age.  So be sure and address these when you are signing up for home computer training.  A good home computer training class will not only address these main issues, but go above and beyond in bringing you up to speed on modern computing.
Now you can be a confident expert on computer training. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on computer training.

All About Data Recovery

At some point in time, everyone who owns a computer will experience the trials and tribulations of hard drive failure.  The reasons behind it vary, and could include everything from a human error to damages resulting from flood or water.  Viruses can play a role as well, along with many other factors.  For many years, the need to recover data that has been lost or destroyed has made data recovery such a very valuable asset. Almost all hard drives can be recovered.  Normally, if the drive is making a ticking or a scratching noise, you can use certain software programs to recover the data.  Sometimes, due to age or bad parts, the aperture arm in the hard drive can fail, or the platters can become damaged and lose the data that they hold.  If you can’t recover the information with software, you’ll need to send the hard drive off and have it either rebuilt or have technicians recover your data.Data recovery is always an option, from hard drives that are 2 GB in size to the largest of over 300    GB or more of data.  No matter what size hard drive you have, the data can generally be recovered.  Keep in mind that if you’ve had a computer crash, you’ll need to send the hard drive off to have the data recovered by technicians. One of the key benefits of data recovery is the fact that information can also be retrieved from the recycle bin as well.  Partition recovery, and even information that has been lost somewhere on the disk can be retrieved as well.  Even though it may seem like your data is gone forever - the technicians that specialize in data recovery can retrieve it.From Windows to Mac, everything can be recovered.  There are different filing structures and formats, including NTFS and FAT32.  These are common Windows filing structures, and hold all of the information for your hard.  Those of you who have multiple hard drives in your computer, can rest assured that RAID configurations can also be recovered.  If a single hard drive on the RAID configuration fails, the RAID setup will absorb the blow and there won’t be a loss of data.  On the other hand, if the entire RAID configuration crashes, it will crash big time.  Whenever this happens, you’ll need to send it off and have technicians restore both the RAID hardware and software. Anytime your hard drive happens to crash or malfunction, data recovery is there to help you get back your files.  Whether they are personally files or very important files that are need for business - you can put your trust in data recovery and know that you’ll get everything the back the way it was.    For help on any Computer Repair related issues contact us immediately, we can help.

Seeking Out Joint Venture Partners

The only way to keep up with the latest about internet marketing is to constantly stay on the lookout for new information. If you read everything you find about internet marketing, it won't take long for you to become an influential authority.
Enjoying a successful joint venture partnership is dependent upon having the right partner.  Choose well and money will increase; choose poorly and both partners will lose.
The secret to picking the correct joint venture partner is to do your homework.  I cannot emphasize enough the need for investigating your prospects and asking the proper questions.  By following a  few simple rules, you will be able to know both your partner's and your own interests will be addressed effectively.
If you don't have accurate details regarding internet marketing, then you might make a bad choice on the subject. Don't let that happen: keep reading.
First and foremost you need to check out your proposed partner's credibility.  If your are to realize any benefits from this relationship you have to join forces with a person who has a well- established relationship with their customers.  Part of this relationship must be a proven record of positive customer service.
After you have decided what kind of person you want to enter into business with, it is time to start looking.  A person who is already doing business in your chosen area is a must-as long as this person isn't competing with you.  Keep in mind both partners must benefit.  This is best done when the products offered are not the same but go well together.
The last thing to look for is a partner who has a large customer list.  You don't want to spend your time and effort helping someone else grow a list at the same time you are trying to grow yours.  You need to make sure your partner's list is already well established.
As you can see this isn't a hard procedure that you have to follow to seek out a joint venture partner.  The most crucial element in picking a venture partner is to do your homework, ask your questions and get your answers before joining forces with anyone.  It wouldn't take much to jump in too quickly and choose a partner that will see your successful business go down the drain. You don't want to end up working harder with a partner than you do while on your own.
There's a lot to understand about internet marketing. We were able to provide you with some of the facts above, but there is still plenty more to write about in subsequent articles.

Small Business Owners: Should Your Hire the Services of a Professional Organizer?

When you think about small business tips, what do you think of first? Which aspects of small business tips are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave? You be the judge. Are you a small business owner who just recently started to see success or profits?  If so, how easy is it for you to run your business, from a management standpoint?  Unfortunately, not all small business owners, especially new ones, are prepared for success.  That is why many small business owners end up getting in over the heads, especially when it comes to keeping all of their business records in order.  Of course, you can take the time to get yourself organized, but if you are like many other disorganized small business owners, you may end up right back where you started in as little as a few days.  For that reason, you may want to think about hiring the services of a professional organizer. When it comes to hiring the services of a professional organizer, there are many individuals who wonder exactly what one is.  Just as the title sounds, a professional organizer is an individual who not only has experience with getting and staying organized, but experience with helping others do so as well.  At first glance, hiring the services of a professional organizer may seem a little bit silly or ridiculous to you, but it is actually something that you should look into a little bit more.  When it comes to hiring the services of a professional organizer, if you want to do so, you will need to find a professional organizer to do business with.  Most professional organizers are small business owners themselves.  Many actually end up advertising their services online or in local newspapers. When finding a professional organizer to do business with, you may want to think about examining the number of small business owners, like you, that they have helped to train, the number of years experience they have teaching organizational skills and such.  Cost of training should also be examined.  I trust that what you've read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.Once you have found a professional organizer to do business with, it may be a little bit easier for you to understand how the process works.  One of the reasons for that is because different professional organizers work in different ways.  For instance, there are some that come in and organize your office without any help from you.  This is done by creating a detailed map or by labeling every box and drawer. There are other professional organizers who work with you to organize your small business, particularly your office.  This is nice because it also gives you the opportunity to know, firsthand, where everything is. Also, you may learn some neat tips from your professional organizer at the same time.  As a reminder, the hiring of a professional organizer is something that is optional, but it is something that you may want to look into a little bit more.  When it comes to running a small business, it is important that you keep accurate records of your business.  These records may be needed to obtain more financing in the future or to have your taxes prepared.  Not knowing where all of your important documents are can spell big trouble.  For instance, if you were trying to claim a business trip as a business expense, but you couldn’t find the trip receipts, you would have to lose out on a moneysaving tax deduction. That is why it is important that your small business paperwork is always up-to-date and organized.Knowing enough about small business tips to make solid, informed choices cuts down on the fear factor. If you apply what you've just learned about small business tips, you should have nothing to worry about.    For help on any Computer Repair related issues contact us immediately, we can help.

Sharpening Your Skills Through Online Computer Training

You should be able to find several indispensable facts about computer training in the following paragraphs. If there's at least one fact you didn't know before, imagine the difference it might make.Information Technology (IT) professionals require training to stay proficient in their occupational field.  More often than not, not only training is required, but constant refreshing with up-to-date materials is essential.  With the ever-expanding world of computers this can not be over-stated or over-emphasized.  Just as other professionals in other fields run into a dilemma with time constraints, so do IT professionals.  More and more there IT pro's look online for their computer training; whether it be for an upgraded skill or a new one.  The manner of obtaining this new or upgraded skill online is a relatively simple process.  A Google search for online computer training in the desired field will return numerous results.  Computer training institutions have long recognized the need for online training.  At first online computer training was a niche market filled by few institutions, but as the demand grew so did the number of these service providers.  If your computer training facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don't let important computer training information slip by you. Before registering for an online computer training course, due diligence on the part of the prospective student should be accomplished.  A quick check of the credentials of one of these institutions is relatively easy.  A Google search for accredited online computer training schools will provide a good and viable starting point.  While this may seem to be a common sense move, there are those who have failed to diligently research this area.  These persons have been duped, or even completely scammed out of their education dollars by less than reputable 'learning' institutions.  Fortunately, nowadays there are checks and balances in place for reducing the possibilities of fraud.  In some cases, financial institutions and government lenders require proof of accreditation before releasing funds to any learning institution.  Even more firm requirements are placed on  online 'learning' institutionSome of these online computer training schools purport to teach in two weeks what normally requires a month to accomplish.  They promise twenty-four hour support through 800 numbers an email.  In this manner they provide computer training mentorship with a trained IT professional.  As in many other endeavors, the worth of this has a direct correlation to what you put into it.  Whether you are looking to for a new certification or to upgrade, it is a relatively simple task to accomplish through online computer training.  These online courses are often structured to provide the student the opportunity for self-paced instruction.  The self-paced portion of instruction has more than helped in the growth in popularity of such online computer training pursuits.  Generally, through self-paced instruction require a minimal time for completion as opposed to a maximum.  What this means is that to obtain 14 hours training in a requisite skill, the student is prevented from completing it in anything less than 14 hours, thereby maintaining the integrity of the certification. Another aspect of this type of training is in progress tracking.  The student's progress is saved along with other pertinent data.  In that manner, the student may stop at any given point and pick-up where they left off from later on.  All tolled, whether sharpening a skill or obtaining a new skill through online computer training is a viable and relatively simple process.  Take time to consider the points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action.   For help on any Computer Repair related issues contact us immediately, we can help.

Is It Safe To Download Computer Software From The Internet

People always ask is it safe to download computer software from the Internet. The answer to this question is that it is safe to download the software as long as a few considerations are identified. Sites that are legitimate should be considered, and sites that have reviews of software available are especially going to be good to look into. So, is it safe to download computer software from the Internet through a file sharing program? The answer to this is generally no. This is because while file sharing programs can be used to transfer files from one person to another there are some concerns to look into regarding these sites. Some of the files that may be offered for free on one of these sites may contain viruses or adware that will infect the computer. One of the questions people also have is “Is it safe to download computer software from the Internet from any site?” This is not something that should be done on just any ordinary site. Some places may offer free versions of programs and products that are available on the market at a cost. While this may sound like a really great offer there will be more trouble involved than there will be reward. The reason for this is that when a group online offers something for free for download, odds are some personal information may have to be sent. In other cases, the program may actually be a spyware product that will end up sending spyware to the computer that can slow it down. Sometimes it could even be a scam because the group that sends the software could use the personal information sent to use for credit card purchases in the user’s name. This can easily harm one’s credit rating or financial status. Is it safe to download computer software from the Internet through any other sites? It depends on the site that is being considered. There are all types of legitimate sites online to get software from. Download.com, ZDNet Downloads and GoLoads have all types of legitimate programs for download. Is it safe to download computer software from the Internet on any of those sites just mentioned? Of course it is! That is because these sites have legal sponsors and will offer reviews and advice on products that are offered for download. Customer reviews can be offered too from registered users, and in many cases, registration is not needed for downloading these files from these legal sites. One of the safest places to go for downloading software is a site that offers trial or shareware editions of software. These are retail products that are available to people in limited form or for a specific period of time. This is technically called advertising because the business that makes the product that can be downloaded will want the user to buy the actual product after time runs out or the user wants to use all of the features of the program. Of course, this makes it legitimate in that it is an actual product that can be tried before buying a license. Many people wonder if it is safe to download computer software from the Internet that is offered to them by emails. This might not be a good idea, it depends on the software and where it is coming form because if an email offers free software odds are very good that the software is actually a spam message that contains a virus or will add even more junk mail to one’s email account. The only attachments or programs that should be opened are from senders that the user is aware of, whether it is from a family member or a business that the person works for.So, is it safe to download computer software from the Internet? If a legitimate site is used for downloading the software, file sharing networks are avoided and emails or sites that offer free software with no obligations are avoided it will be safe. Be sure to use all of these considerations so that it will be easier to protect the computer and that the best and safest software can be downloaded onto the computer.     For help on any Computer Repair related issues contact us immediately, we can help.

Computer Software For Taxes

Taxes are among the most important personal issues that a person will have to take care of in life. After all, not handling taxes properly can be against in the law. Computer software for taxes can be used to help make it easier to take care of filing taxes. There are different programs that can be used for people who have different concerns about taxes.
The most popular type of computer software for taxes is TurboTax. This is considered to be one of the best programs to use because it can electronically gather 1099 or W-2 data from financial groups and businesses. It is also easy to electronically file a tax return and to get updates for forms that need to be filled out through easy to use online upgrade systems.
One of the best benefits of computer software for taxes is that it can be used to help find deductions that a user can take advantage of for saving money. More than three hundred different deductions are listed in the TurboTax program. This can be used to increase one’s tax refund. TurboTax also helps to alert people of information entered that may cause an audit to take place.
TurboTax is a program for people who have had a few things happen to them in the previous year. People who have education expenses and people who either own or have sold a home in the past year should use it. It is also useful for people with a great amount of medical expenses. Since there are many different deductions that can be found in this program, it will definitely be used by people who have made a huge charitable donation in the past year.
H&R Block TaxCut is another type of computer software for taxes. This can be used for filing taxes for the country and for the state that one lives in. This program is supported by the country’s top tax filing group and this computer software for taxes will be released with new editions every year that reflect all of the many changes in the tax code. Past versions dating back to 1992 are also available for those who have taxes from the past that are due.
TaxCut can be used to gather financial data from programs like Quicken and Microsoft Money to help make it easier to read financial data that is needed for filing taxes. It also has an error check feature that is used to make it easier to find difficulties in a tax return so that an audit can be prevented and trouble with the government is avoided.
For those who are looking for deductions in taxes ItsDeductible can be used. Made by the makers of TurboTax, ItsDeductible records charitable donations made throughout the year and can be imported onto another tax software program like TurboTax or TaxCut. It also produces accurate values for items that have been donated when items instead of money is donated to charities.
With the greater amount of accuracy that is used to track deductions, hundreds or even thousands of dollars can be saved through additional information for deductions. ItsDeductible can even automatically handle IRS Tax Form 8283, which is a form that is needed for non-cash donations that are worth more than five hundred dollars in value.
These are all important programs for computer software for taxes. Many of these programs can be used to help with assisting users in getting full information on tax code updates and forms that are going to be needed for filing taxes. Computer software for taxes can be used to find deductions, handle deductible services and even take care of taxes that have been owed for years. These programs are indeed useful and can be used to help make it easier to take care of taxes and even earn more money on a return. This is the most important thing that keeps the software in high demand.

Educational Computer Software Helps With Learning

The only way to keep up with the latest about computer software is to constantly stay on the lookout for new information. If you read everything you find about computer software, it won't take long for you to become an influential authority.Educational computer software is a term that refers to a wide array of topics and products. In its most general terms, it can be defined as any kind of computer software that teaches something, or helps someone to teach others, or to self-teaching. This software makes up a large market in the global computer industry of today and appeals to schools and homes all over the world to do a wide arrange of things. However, the term actually goes back even further, because it can be applied to many programs that were in use by institutions and organizations well before the Personal Computer became an everyday household item.  Leaps and bounds have been made in the field of astronomy, space study, and military efficiency along with much more thanks to early forms of educational computer software. Some of the most popular educational computer software used to educate children. There are such wide varieties of options available that come in the form of games, programs used in schools, or programs used in the home for home schooling. There are also many types of educational computer software that is aimed at learning in adults as well. These can be educational games too, but also programs that teach language, business, or other life skills that are in a strictly learning format and aim to improve or inspire you in your career or desired path. These programs can be good for everyone, but especially for people who may not have the opportunity towards more formal education. These programs and software of course can also be used as an aid for students, be they children or adults. Some cater to basic education, some to advancing already well-honed skills, and many to aiding in learning for both children and adults with learning disabilities.

Another place where educational computer software comes widely into use is the workplace. With so many firms and organizations so highly dependent on computer systems, it is not too surprising that these same organizations use software to train, teach and improve their work as well as that of their employees.  This way information can be transmitted and learned from thousands of miles away, while maintaining consistency throughout. This factor of educational computer software can improve efficiency and product quality as well as make great advancements in customer service, offering companies who use it the possibility to improve their products and there by also improving their productivity and profits.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and computer software experts is time. If you'll invest a little more time in reading, you'll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to computer software.

Yet another place that this educational computer software has proven life changing is, of course, in its growing demand. There are many companies and distributors as well as creators of literally thousands of different types of educational computer software. This has increased the amount of people who not only use such software, but who make their livelihood creating, selling, improving, or distributing it.

We often may not think about the many ways computers have changed our lives, even before they became commonplace in the home and at the office. However, by looking at this one aspect of computer software alone we can find things for everyone, something that can change or improve your life, aid schools in teaching, and help in the workplace as well as providing thousands of jobs to people all over the world. The fact is that almost anyone can find educational computer software that applies to his or her life, and the choices are always expanding.

It may very well be that the with the opportunities available through the many types of educational software on the market, the lives of thousands of people can not only improve on a personal level but also on a global one. With the transmission of information with such software we can reach out around the world and help people not only help themselves, but each other.  Moreover, in an age of such global communities, that is not only desirable, but also essential.

The day will come when you can use something you read about here to have a beneficial impact. Then you'll be glad you took the time to learn more about computer software.

Do People Know Where Your Are on the Web?

Are you looking for some inside information on security? Here's an up-to-date report from security experts who should know. It's really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of security. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas. The question is, “can you be tracked down on the internet?”
Your IP address is no secret. It's a basic part of internet communication protocols to send your IP address whenever you connect to another site, request a web page, chat, play an online game, etc. Without your IP address, the computer on the other end wouldn't know where to send the reply.
But that doesn't mean that Evildoers can find your house if they know your IP address. Each time you go online (if you have dialup) or each time you start your computer (Cable or DSL) you are assigned an IP address, randomly selected from a pool of IP's assigned to your Internet service provider (ISP).
So a person MIGHT be able to get a general idea of your geographic location, based on your IP address, by doing a lookup on the WHOIS database, but that will only tell them the physical location of your ISP -- not YOUR home address.
And if you use a large regional or nationwide ISP, the IP lookup probably reveals nothing of interest. For example, if you are an AOL subscriber, your IP address lookup will show the location as Dulles, Virginia -- regardless of where you live.
There is an exception to every rule. If a stranger calls your ISP and wants to know who was using a certain IP address last Tuesday, the ISP will tell them to go away. But if an officer of the law hands your ISP a court order to reveal that information, they must do so. Your ISP's logs will enable them to determine which customer was using a certain IP address on a certain date & time, and they must reveal that information if a court has found probable cause for criminal activity.
But for the truly paranoid (or the criminally inclined) there are ways to surf the web anonymously. There are services that will act as a proxy between you and your ISP, and they claim that your information cannot be subpoenaed because they do not store it.
What About Email Addresses?
The same concepts apply to your email address. The part that follows the "@" sign is your ISP's domain name. And given the domain name, one can determine the ISP's physical location, but nothing personally identifying about the email user without a court order.
Web-based email accounts are not truly anonymous, either. Even if you don't provide your real name when signing up, they can capture your IP address and track you through your ISP if necessary.

Knowing enough about security to make solid, informed choices cuts down on the fear factor. If you apply what you've just learned about security, you should have nothing to worry about.

A Few Common Computer Errors

Do you ever feel like you know just enough about computers to be dangerous? Let's see if we can fill in some of the gaps with the latest info from computers experts.

Computer errors can pop up when least expected, they can cause the entire system to suddenly shut down, and they can inadvertently corrupt data to the point where it can't be deciphered. Although they can't always be avoided, it's important to remember that computer errors can be corrected. The key is to understand what computer errors are, understand what they mean when they show up, and understand how to minimize their occurrence in the first place.

Basically, computer errors are the result of a number of things that may or may not have anything to do with the way the computer is used. They "operate" whenever there's a conflict among commands. Remember that computers essentially run off of a series of commands and it's usually a smooth process. But when one command conflicts with another command - or when one command asks for a process or information that isn't available, the computer returns results that aren't useable. That's an error.

A prime example of this kind of error is when users attempt to use software that isn't applicable for their system. Almost all software accompanies a list of system requirements which dictates what a computer needs to have in order for the software to work properly. To minimize errors of this sort, always verify that your computer has the required components. A project management program that you're interested in may require a specific operating system, like Windows XP for example. And although this program may install just fine on a Windows 98 machine, it will generate a multitude of errors once its started.

Insufficient memory will cause errors as well. That's why software programs include minimum memory requirements. A program that needs 14MB of memory will generate errors on a computer that only has 4MB of memory if it runs at all. The same goes for disk space, monitor color depth and resolution. In these situations, problems occur the moment that a piece of software attempts to access the things (hardware, memory, space, resolution, etc.) that it cannot find.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of computers is no exception. Keep reading to get more fresh news about computers.

Because some programs share common files, errors can also occur when these shared files are not up to date. For instance, let's say that Program A is already installed on a computer and it's working just fine. Then let's say that the user of that computer downloads and installs Program B. Program B uses a file that Program A installed much earlier, but when Program B is run, errors popup. Those errors are the result of Program B attempting to use an outdated (shared) file that was installed by Program A. In order to fix that problem, the user would have to download an updated version of the shared file (which to say the least - is not an easy thing to find or do).

Sometimes, errors occur because a system doesn't have the required drivers or the drivers that are on the system are the incorrect version. Both errors in these cases can be resolved by updating the computer on a regular basis. Microsoft provides a section on its website that can automatically update a computer online and it does this at no cost in an effort to reduce errors like this. Always try to keep your computer updated so that should a program share a file, it will share a file that has been updated on hundreds of thousands of computers, like yours.

This article doesn't even begin to cover the entire gamut of computer errors - but additional information regarding how to get help with a computer issue (including computer errors) can be found in our article titled, "Computer Help" no matter what the problem is.

Of course, it's impossible to put everything about computers into just one article. But you can't deny that you've just added to your understanding about computers, and that's time well spent.

Internet Marketing the Easy Way

The best course of action to take sometimes isn't clear until you've listed and considered your alternatives. The following paragraphs should help clue you in to what the experts think is significant.

Just like there are no magic weight loss cures or ways to earn money from home without a great deal of effort, there is no one simple solution to guarantee Internet marketing success. However, Internet marketing is not overly complicated and many business owners can enjoy at least some degree of Internet marketing success with only limited knowledge about the industry. This article will discuss some of the simplest Internet marketing strategies business owners can implement to promote their business online.

Participation in industry related message boards is one of the easiest ways a business owner can use the Internet as a promotional tool. Message boards are websites which provide a forum for Internet users who share a common interest to share information related to this subject or just socialize. Business owners may opt to join message boards which closely relate to their industry or the products or services they offer. This is important because doing this gives the business owners access to a group of Internet users who fall into the target audience for his products or services. It also gives the business owner the opportunity to promote his own website. Many message boards allow users to place a link to their own website in their signature. Business owners who do this and also contribute useful commentary on the message boards may attract potential customers via the link they place in their signature.

Additionally, some message boards may even allow users to post links in the body of the message. This gives the business owner the opportunity to offer his link in response to questions and comments when doing so is relevant and offers something of value to the online conversation. However, care should be taken to carefully review the terms of service and all guidelines on the message board before posting links to ensure this is not a violation of the policies of the message board. Failure to adhere to message board policies may result in removal from the message board or the posts being viewed as spam by other users.

Knowledge can give you a real advantage. To make sure you're fully informed about internet marketing, keep reading.

Another simple, but effective, Internet marketing strategy is to hire a consulting firm with search engine optimization (SEO) experience to assist you in achieving high search engine rankings. While the concept of SEO can be rather complex and understanding the most effective strategies and how to properly implement them may take years of experience as well as continual education, the ability to hire a qualified SEO firm is as simple as knowing how to interview candidates and select the most qualified one. Handling your own SEO efforts can be rather difficult but hiring another firm to take care of this for you is not only easy but it can have a significant impact on your website traffic because high search engine rankings typically translate to improved web traffic. This is because Internet users trust search engines to serve the most relevant websites first and typically only visit the best ranking websites when they search for a particular term.

Similarly another simple way to enjoy Internet marketing success is to hire a consulting firm to plan and execute your Internet marketing strategy. Just like SEO, Internet marketing is essentially a full time job. Business owners may have a great deal of difficulty trying to run their business and organize their Internet marketing. Outsourcing this work eases the burden on the business manager and will likely produce more favorable results.

Finding Affordable Hard Drives

The following article lists some simple, informative tips that will help you have a better experience with computers. One thing is for sure, the hard drive is something that no computer can be without. In fact, when you are looking to upgrade your computer or buy a new one you should use the hard drive as one of the most important considerations to follow. There are all types of affordable hard drives to choose from though. These will help to not only give your computer a place for its data to be stored but they will be useful in that you will not have to spend more money than you need to.The first thing to consider when finding affordable hard drives is the capacity of the hard drive. While larger hard drives have become the way to go for some computers these days the more affordable hard drives are going to be the ones that have lower levels of data capacity. A hard drive that fits 250GB of data will certainly cost less than that of an 800GB hard drive.Another thing to consider for the affordable hard drive is the USB capability. Some hard drives will only be able to be used inside of the computer. Some of them can be read through a USB connection. This has turned into one of the most convenient methods of data storage on the market. Groups like Western Digital and Seagate have been making these, but it should be noted that the most affordable hard drives in this range are ones with lower capacity levels.Affordable hard drives will still have great data transfer rates also. Inner zone transfer rates for one of these cost efficient hard drives will be at around fifty megabytes a second and close to a hundred megabytes in a second for data at the outer zone. There are various different places where you can find affordable hard drives. For instance, a typical computer hardware store will have new hard drives available for sale at different price levels so you can find one that will be in the range that you are willing to spend it on.I trust that what you've read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain. Some independent computer hardware stores will have refurbished hard drives for sale. These have already been used but are cleaned up and restored so that they will work just like new. Even the higher end hard drives may be available in refurbished quality. This will mean that you can save a great amount of money on top quality products. An outlet store will also have affordable hard drives. This is because these hard drives are sold individually to people who are looking to customize their computers. In addition, with no middleman involved money will be saved because of the small transfer costs. You can find an outlet store in your area through your local phone book.Online sites can be useful too. TigerDirect.com, which is the website for the Tiger Direct Outlet Store, has many of these affordable hard drives. SuperWarehouse.com has plenty of hard drives and special deals for sale too. PCNation.com has more hard drives and arranges its hard drives by capacity size. Of course, those are some of the more credible sites to visit. Remember, some online stores may not be protected or secure like these three are.A hard drive is something that you should use for your computer. By using the considerations of the hard drive in terms of the size, you want and by looking at various different stores, you can find affordable hard drives that your computer can use without you having to spend more money than you want to.That's the latest from the computers authorities. Once you're familiar with these ideas, you'll be ready to move to the next level.

Why Internet Marketing Does Not Work Without SEO

You should be able to find several indispensable facts about internet marketing in the following paragraphs. If there's at least one fact you didn't know before, imagine the difference it might make.
Search engine optimization (SEO) should be considered a critical element of any Internet marketing strategy. This is important because there is so much which can be gained from SEO in terms of Internet marketing and advertising. Failure to optimize your website for search engines can result in a considerable loss in terms of free advertising which is essentially gained from ranking well with search engines. This article will provide insight into what SEO is and will explain why Internet marketing requires at least some degree of SEO.
SEO optimization is a strategy in which a website is designed to obtain favorable search engine rankings from popular search engines. This may be achieved in a variety of different ways and optimal SEO strategies combine a variety of different strategies to complete one well orchestrated SEO campaign. There are several elements to consider when attempting to optimize your website for search engines. This may include keyword density, prominence, META tags, titles and inbound links. Keyword density is one of the most common SEO strategies and essentially involves using relevant keywords often in the content of a website to demonstrate the relevance of these keywords to the website. This is important because search engines are likely to reward websites with optimal keyword densities with favorable search engine rankings in an effort to provide Internet users with the most relevant websites for particular search terms.
The prominence of keywords should also be considered. This includes how close the keywords are placed to the beginning of the website. The common mistake with this strategy is to believe the first opportunity to incorporate keywords is in the first line of visible text on the webpage. This is not true because search engines crawl the code of a website as opposed to the visible content on the website. This means there are multiple opportunities to incorporate relevant keywords long before the actual visible content on the website. This might include the code for the title as well as the META tags. Business owners who realize the potential for incorporating keyword into the code gain an advantage over competitors who only incorporate keywords into the content on their website.
I trust that what you've read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.
Another area of concern which is very important for those who are interested in SEO is inbound links. Inbound links are essentially links which reside on other websites and direct traffic to your website. These links are considered important because many search engines place a value on inbound links because they are essentially an example of one website recommending another website. However, when obtaining inbound links it is important to do so from other websites which rank well with search engines because many search engines consider the rank of the original website when determining the value of the inbound link.
Now that we have briefly explained some of the main concept of SEO, we will illustrate why it is important to optimize your website in the first place. SEO is so important because most Internet users highly value the results of search engines and are likely to only visit to ranking websites when they search for a particular keyword. Internet users trust search engines to serve the most relevant content first and are therefore not likely to visit websites which do not fall on the first or second page of search results. This means websites which rank well essentially are receiving a great deal of free advertising from search engines that place their website in a key position. Website owners who do not invest time into optimizing their websites miss out on a great deal of potential web traffic.
If you've picked some pointers about internet marketing that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it.

Composing Your Joint Venture Proposition

This article explains a few things about internet marketing, and if you're interested, then this is worth reading, because you can never tell what you don't know.

Your joint venture proposal is the main factor in whether you'll be able to attract a joint venture partner or not. You have to write a winning, but not overpowering proposition. You need to explain exactly why you would be an excellent partner but you can't make it so good it isn't believable. Your main goal is to make your proposed partner feel he's lose out if he doesn't partner with you. I've gathered a brief list of all the elements needed for a successful joint venture proposal and will pass them onto you.
First, you need to include in your proposal everything you can to show the benefits of joining into a partnership with you. This is important, for the main reason that this is meant to be beneficial to both partners. You'll want to relay to your proposed partner all the ways he'll benefit. Detail the ways your business will make his better and he will be more apt to listen.
If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole internet marketing story from informed sources.
Next, it is important that you give your proposed partner a sample of the merchandise you sell. If you sell services, show them samples of work and let them read testimonials from happy customers. Allow them to see why teaming up with you would be a good thing.
The most crucial element of your proposal is your ability to write well. Even if you're unbeatable in your field, if you can't get that point across in writing you're apt to get passed over. While preparing your joint venture proposal you will have to be clear and to the point. Let them know of your interest in joining forces. Detail what you have to give and how they will benefit. Try not to overwhelm with details in your first contact, but be certain to provide at least two ways for them to contact you if they want additional details or have any questions.
Following the above steps will make it easy to put together a joint venture proposal. This might be a new type of venture for you, but it doesn't have to be hard. Take a few minutes to gather your thoughts and list details before you write and the proposal will come together effortlessly.
I hope that reading the above information was both enjoyable and educational for you. Your learning process should be ongoing--the more you understand about any subject, the more you will be able to share with others.

Free Online Computer Training

When you're learning about something new, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.
So you are on a tight budget and you want some computer training, right?  In this day and age there are a lot of options for people seeking to better themselves through various training programs and certification classes.  However, some folks just don't have the cashflow to make some of these options possible.  That is where free online computer training comes in to play.  Where else can you go and get enough information to teach yourself all about computers?  From learning HTML (hyper-text mark up language, used to build websites) to how to tear down and rebuild a CPU (central processing unit)?
If you can plug in to a free online computer training system or set of resources, you can literally teach yourself almost anything.  There are a variety of different ways to go about this process, so let's start at the beginning.  The very first thing, before you ever embark on your online adventure, is to determine exactly what you want to learn from your free online computer training.  Pick out your base subject, and then you can get started researching online sources for free training.  For our examples, let's take the subject of HTML and see where we can get some free online computer training to learn HTML.
The information about computer training presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about computer training or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.
For the first step, let's get on a major search engine like Yahoo or Google and do a search for the term 'free HTML training' or 'free online computer training'.  You will find quite a few results come up in reference to these terms, but don't be fooled.  Most of these won't really have free training, maybe just a free sample class or two.  Some of these won't have anything free at all, they either buy an advertising slot or they develop their website in a way to show up higher in the results to get your attention.  Remember, what you are looking for is a site that is truly going to give you free online computer training.
Sometimes the best results for free online computer training can come in the form of free forums or bulletin boards.  For those of you who are really new to the Internet, let's talk about this for a minute.  Forums and bulletin boards are web pages that allow visitors to sign up as 'users', usually for free.  Once you are registered with these sights, you can then post and respond to others on the forums or boards and ask questions.  The beauty of these resources is that there are literally hundreds of them out there on almost any subject imaginable, especially dealing with computers.  So, for someone looking for free online computer training, they are a great resource and should definitely not be overlooked.  They can contain a great wealth of information from other users who have asked questions and had them answered on the boards.
Another great source of free online computer training consists of e-zines and newsletters.  Do another search and use the terms 'e-zine' and 'newsletters' in conjunction with the free online computer training you are looking for.  Most of these will be free as well, and you will have to subscribe for a short time to separate those that truly want to share some information with you versus those that are really only looking to sell you a product or a service through their correspondence.  Overall it can be said that where there is a will, there is a way, especially when it comes to free online computer training.

That's the latest from the computer training authorities. Once you're familiar with these ideas, you'll be ready to move to the next level.
